Background: Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a devastating disorder. Despite enormous efforts in clinical research, effective treatment options are lacking, and mortality rates remain unacceptably high. Objectives: A male patient with severe ARDS showed no clinical improvement with conventional therapies. Hence, an emergent experimental intervention was performed. The Effect of Non-nutritive Sucking on Expression of BMAL1 and CRY1 in Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells of Preterm Neonates: A Preliminary Study

Objectives: To determine whether non-nutritive sucking (NNS) has an effect on circadian rhythm of circadian genes in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) in preterm neonates. Methods: Ten premature neonates, gestational age from 30 to 31 weeks, were recruited. Infants with birth asphyxia, respiratory distress syndrome, apnoea, malformation, infection or haemolytic diseases were excluded. A...

Monocyte isolation using serum dextrose 5% with autologous plasma

Introduction: Mammalian cells culture is an important method for producing recombinant proteins, monoclonal antibody, and hormones application. One of the common methods in the monocyte isolation is using flask adherent cell culture in RPMI-1640 medium. We aimed, in this study, cell culture medium using dextrose 5% with autologous plasma to produce inexpensive medium for isolation of monocytes....
